Organization
Description
AEES is the
Environmental Engineering student organization at the Georgia Institute of Technology. Our organization's main goal is
to improve the overall educational experience of the students in our department.
We do this by sponsoring a variety of different events each year such
as:
* a panel
discussion on an important environmental topic each fall
* a symposium each spring with representatives from both private and
public sector organizations
* periodic installments of a distinguished lecturer series
* an outstanding Master's and outstanding Ph.D. candidate award each
spring
* numerous social events throughout the year including intramural sports
teams and many informal social gatherings
We provide
professional development services to our students, act as a communication
channel between students and faculty, provide assistance to students attending
conferences, and work to maintain a high quality of student life. We also
provide a link between our students and their potential employers.
The breadth
of our services continues to grow as our organization ages and brings
in new members. If you are a student, alumnus, or environmental
professional and are interested in being involved in our student-professional
organization, e-mail us.
Our parent
organizations are the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP),
the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Water Works Association
(AWWA). We are also an official student chapter of AWWA. Our members are undergraduate and graduate students
studying and researching topics within environmental engineering including air quality, bioremediation,
subsurface contaminant transport, and physicochemical processes associated with water and wastewater treatment.
